MJ's little flock

Hi there :frow When no one else posts, I can always count on you two 🤗 thanks!

I should post more myself.

Here's the Pegasaurus in what has become her corner of the Funrun.

So she has a favorite space already. Have they divided the whole run yet?

I grew up in a southern state & they brought it in when I was a kid. I hate it!!! Stupid idea. Still stinkin' hot when you need to go to bed ~ & probably still quite a bit of light. Still getting up in the dark in summer when it's light by 4am round here. Honestly. It's not England. The idea of it still being full light @ 10pm @ night is horrendous!
Yep, and trying explain to a young kid that ‘I know the sun is still up but trust me, it’s bed time’ :barnie

Nurse Mary

I've been very impressed with Mary's conduct throughout Sandy's sickness and convalescence. She frequently checks up on Sandy and spends many hours standing nearby. I've also seen her intervene on Sandy's behalf at the feeder, come running when she spots Janet and Sandy together, and drop some bits of grass for Sandy to eat.

I think she knows Sandy is not at her best and is working to give Sandy her best shot at recuperating.

Bless Mary’s kind heart 🥰

Coop clean out is on the cards

It's sping here and there's been rain and warmth, perfect for mites to multiply. So tomorrow, I'm going to remove everything that isn't nailed down, shovel out the litter, hose down the walls, spray with coopex, put everything back, and spread fresh litter. And then I'll rest well knowing for sure no mites are bothering the hens :)
Is it strange that I’ve never had mites in 3 years? I’ve never treated the coop for them either. Have I maybe just been unawares/ignorant? I check for them randomly, did so on Bok justcafter getting the young ones and couldn’t find anything 🤔 I feel I’m ignorant of what I’m looking for now as it seems to be common to get them

Red mites are endemic where I live. Maybe mites don't thrive in your neighborhood?
