Thanks Shad. The oats was an attempt to get her to eat anything but watermelon
Have mixed up some tuna for her to take out, she’s looking pretty dispondent though. And today is cold so they are all snuggled together at least.
She’s still drinking on her own so that’s something.

I recall a conversation I once had with Mark when Sandy was sick. She was younger than Bok, only 2, but he considered her to be about 70 in human years. It's because fast laying comes with early aging, you see. So maybe Bok is simply an elderly lady whose appetite is not what it used to be. I remember my nana thought a sandwich was all she needed in the evening.

It's shocking to us humans to think 3 years is elderly, but that's how it is with laying birds.

Going off Mark’s guess with Sandy, Bok is beyond elderly and I think it is just her body shutting down. This is where I’m being selfish and not letting her go with the hope she might pull through. Not taking her to be euthanised and whether that’s the right thing if she’s in extreme pain is what is tearing me up inside.

I'm wondering about pain relief, but I'm not the best person to advise on dosing.

Where exactly is the lump?

It is where the crop is but on the opposite side of her breast. Now I’m wondering if it’s just because she’s lost so much weight she just feels different to what I’m used to.

I’ve made the decision if she is still with us by Monday I’m going to have her euthanised by the vet. I can’t watch her keep wasting away...

I only have cans of chilli tuna left (my favourite) but will get some in spring water tomorrow. What about sardines?
