MJ's little flock

Probably. Just getting enough data is a massive problem.
Temperature dependent sex determination is a real thing but is believed to only occur in some reptiles and some types of fish.
It is of interest scientifically at the moment because of the likely implication of warming climate on sex ratio of those species.
Chickens like all other birds and mammals have genotype driven sex determination (sex chromosomes - X&Y in mammals and Z&G in birds) so I believe the incubator thing is nonsense unless it is some factor about survival of male vs female embryos which is biologically possible.

Hi MJ.

I'm good thanks. Almost caught up on your thread now.

Sorry to hear about the scary break in. I'm glad you were able to be scarier still and send him packing!

How goes the security system installation? All done yet?
I'm still waiting for the quote! But I've improved my door locking habits in the meantime.

How are your chooks going?

The afternoon bathing party is going well!

Have you chooks started using it as a rain shelter ACM?
I'm sorry to say that I don't really know. They certainly use it as a dust bathing shelter. ☺️

Both Edwina and Pepper have been broody for the last two weeks so are spending most of their time on the nests.

Alice tends to follow me around the house and take shelter under the eaves.

Alice has gone to bed early to avoid the rain
