MJ's little flock

Can you explain the gap beneath. Maybe with photos?
It's got legs either side which leaves a cavity beneath.

It didn't take long for the hens to knock or flick food under there. If I don't clean it up, it'll attract rodents.

So I'll block up that cavity. Probably with a piece of timber.

It goes too fast for me too. I kept reading every post for much longer than my availability allowed but had to give up.

Every now and then, I read a few pages at the tail end but there's so much I've missed of other people's flocks I no longer know what's happening.

So grateful for Bob tagging me though, because I like to know what's going on with his tribe.
Yes, the tags are helpful!

I love how your build is coming along, MJ! And it makes me think maybe I coild build a coop by meself if I needed to!
Thank you! I'm very happy with it so far.

I think I will try for a mini orb roof. There's a lot of it in the shed and I'd like to use it up. Also, it's very lightweight. I remember when I was putting the big fox proof coop together and attaching its mini orb panels to make the roof. I feel like I can do that again if I've got the right self-tapping screws.

It's a corrogated surface so the rain will run off it nicely. I plan to store the rain in the small galv rainwater tank, then use it on the plants in the vicinity.

You could totally build your own, especially with a builder partner to help you out when you get stuck.

That's great. Glad you got some help on the calculations! 👍👍
The funny thing was, he was adding 2.5 to 2.5 and getting 5m2! I had to say, no wait, it's a multiplication
:gig

So we came up with 2.3 x 2.15m to be on the safe side. That's wide enough and almost as deep as I'd hoped.

I may even make it 2.5 x 2m to give it a slightly deeper eave on the sunny side.

Today, my brother took a look at the future roosting box and gave it a big
:thumbsup
With special recognition of how sturdy it is
:wee
And we calculated the dimensions of the roof, which must be less than 5m2 to avoid the formal approvals process.
Well done!!
