This is interesting for sure. I never understand why the patterns change like that. I bet they shift back at some point.

I wonder if the foraging is unappetising in summer.

Oh my, poor girl

She is pretty darn rumpled. Poor girl.

I think she dropped roughly half of her feathers. There are lots of new ones coming through.

So, while it's Peggy's heaviest moult ever, It's not as bad as Ivy's recent moult, which was around three quarters of her feathers.

Yesterday, Mary couldn't move without 4-6 feathers dropping, so I think it will be another heavy moult for her. She has lost her presence of mind too. Very preoccupied.

Well. She's made a liar of me and eaten a snack of dry pellets.

Don't ask me to explain her sideways posture. All the other hens stand facing the feeder, but not Pegsy. She'd rather stand sideways and bend her neck
