We discussed this on my thread last year so I am going to remind you that there is no connection between laying and molting other than the time of year. Phyllis laid all the way through her molt last year.
I'm not sure how much that matters in the context of my backyard. It's not my research topic and the distinction doesn't seem to serve a practical purpose, other than keeping me alert to other health factors which I am, regardless of laying.

MJ, most of my girls have stopped laying for their winter break. They're early, which I hope doesn't mean we're going to have a long, hard winter. Without my BRs I have no winter layers. They are also, most of them, moulting. Only Portia & Olivia are still laying regularly. My neighbour's girls are also easing off.
I'm pretty sure that's what's going on with Janet too. I've been sneakily watching her without her noticing me and she's not showing any signs of sickness.
