MJ's little flock

@RoyalChick how are your hens doing? Is everything ok?
Awww. Thanks for asking. Nobody has died since Lulu so it all remains one big mystery.
I am away for a couple of days and back tomorrow but keeping an eye on them via my cameras. Here they are looking like a very united group which makes me happy as I was worried Bernadette would become a solo hen.

I was never worried that Bernadette would be a solo. Not with her personality. It is wonderful to see it bear out though.

Mary's home!

Mark says she probably got a hernia pushing an egg out. Then a big lump of fat grew around the hernia, squishing her organs. Now the fat's gone and the hernia's fixed, she should be absolutely fine. She even laid 3 eggs in the two days since her surgery!

Of course, they've all fallen for her. Who wouldn't?

She was letting out a few of those delighted bokking episodes in the car, as if she knew she was going home, but I reckon she was simply delighted to be doing something other than poking around the cage at Mark's surgery. And to be feeling better. Can you imagine how uncomfortable she must've been with her insides all jammed up like that.

She has to be kept inside at night for now, so Blossom has moved out of her sleepout to make way for Mary. It has a concrete floor which will clean up ok in the morning. She can go outside during the day.

She has a follow up appointment next Friday morning.
