MJ's little flock

Ok. I've signed the consent.

The vet thinks it's unlikely she has anything contagious. He thinks it's probably congenital.
You did everything you could for her. If it was congenital, it seems unlikely that it had anything to do with the bits of toast.

I have always admired the gentle and respectful way that you interact with your chickens. She was lucky to have lived with you for the time that she did. :hugs

Thank you for seeing that and putting it into words Lexicon.

I really did my best.

I hope euthanasia was the right decision. It's so hard to be sure.
I’m so sorry MJ. :hugs I know what it feels like when everyone tells you that you did your best, but doesn’t feel like it. You definitely went above and beyond.

I will grieve for Lorna alongside River, Penguin, Lottie, Tegan, Nyssa and Gucci.

I'm so sad that all the care you have given her didn't get her to heal. I think it was very brave of you to go along with the crop feeding, and it's also courageous to have made this hard decision now.
My gut feeling is, like you hinted, that she just wasn't able to process solid food anymore.
Chicken keeping is a hard lesson on the fragility of life and dealing with loss. I hope grief doesn't hit you too hard now the phase of trying hard to think of what's best for her is over💚.
