MJ's little flock

It strikes me as a bit of a worry that a hen who doesn't lay eggs any more has turned broody. I'll call the vet about that.

Anyway, Joyce has tucked herself into the nest of the little coop and it presents a golden opportunity to migrate the marauders into the little coop, which I hope will become a permanent roost for them. So, I put Christa in there too. With food and water in case they feel like snacking before I'm up in the morning.

At this moment, Joyce is in stealth mode but Christa is quietly whining every now and then. She can come out of the little coop in the morning.

Tonight's video is another long one because I haven't earned my certificate in video editing yet :hmm

But it shows the ramp being used a dual carriageway. Three times!

It looks like it is now just part of their home. Wouldn’t surprise me if they start hanging out on it.
I don’t know what you use to take video - I use my phone and edit it right on the phone. Can’t do anything fancy - just crop and cut length.

From the poops, I'm pretty sure someone was up in the roost box yesterday, possibly getting snacks.

I'm sure it is easy to edit on the phone, but I haven't had time to look into it carefully. I'm in one of those 'hair on fire' busy periods at work.

Hope hair fire is extinguished soon!
I wasn't nagging - just helping you save the hours I lost trying to figure out video editing apps when I had all I needed right in my hand!

Oh, it didn't come across as nagging! It's almost a reflex for me to explain myself.

I think maybe I already know how to trim the ends off from using lecture editing software, but I have to transfer that knowledge to the phone's software. I certainly don't know how to trim the boring middle bits out.

The worst of the fire is out, but it'll keep sizzling for three of the next five weeks.

I guess it's not unexpected but Joyce died overnight.

Here she is with Katie on Saturday morning.

I sat with her body on my lap for five minutes while her friends said their goodbyes.

Here she is (left) with her bff Christa.

Then I gently put her in a shroud (old pillow case).

Here she is having just shown Christa all about the treadle feeder.

For now, her remains are in the freezer. I won't have time to bury her until Saturday.

Coming home from the vet.

Poor Joyce. Destined from hatch to live a short life.

At least she had an opportunity to study the phenomenon of the front loading washing machine.

Bye Joycey. Thank you for being you.
