I have only just realized that your recumbent bike is a trike. That makes me feel a bit better about it. I was trying to figure how on earth you stayed upright!

Hubby did also purchase a recumbent bike and we were practicing riding it, but then he saw another trike on eBay and bought it as well.

We have 12 bikes. 12!!

About the chicks grit and immunity building.
What many people do when raising chicks in broody coops is to dig up a clod of earth from the areas the chicks will have access to and put a clod in the broody coop.

You know what folks? I've been watching that slow chick today and it's not slow any more. I don't think there's anything wrong a little growth, food, water, and time won't cure.

The grit sold here is usually a mix of crushed shells, crushed flint, and other minerals. I have never seen a healthy chicken touch it but when my hens had sour crop they did eat a bit of it.
