MJ's little flock

Mary will be cremated by the Animal Welfare League (I know you have good reasons for not liking them Lozzy, but I don't have access to providers with services as good and as affordable as theirs).

In addition to simple cremations, they also offer mementoes containing a few ashes. I'm going to get one: a glass orb paperweight with a black swirl through it for my desk.
That seems like an excellent way to remember her.

I've given Sarah the Broody a mandatory break.

She's not complying. Talk about bolshy.

The look on her face! :gig
Reminds me of Tassels when after 6 weeks in a broody cage she still wouldn’t budge and I packed big blocks of ice around her.

Is she cured of brooding now she's got kids?
I doubt it. She has let go of them finally and is laying but I suspect only the onset of winter is preventing her from going broody right now and I am not sure that will stop her either. She has been laying for over two weeks now which might be a record for her!

I didn't have a great experience taking Mary for her cremation.

She'd been in the freezer, wrapped in her towel with her flowers. I put her in a makeshift cardboard coffin for her final journey.

On arrival to her pre-booked appointment, they didn't let me in the front door. They sent me to the back door. In the rain. Where there's nowhere to put her down except the ground. So I stood there holding her coffin, my arms getting more and more tired. The whole thing was more than 4kg. I gave up and insisted they let me through, which they did. After that, the experience improved until they wanted to open her coffin and remove her towel. What an idiotic and unfeeling suggestion.

Then I tried to give written feedback via the receipt and the submit button on the online feedback form didn't work.

Sheesh.

Talk about room for improvement.
