MJ's little flock

I didn't have a great experience taking Mary for her cremation.

She'd been in the freezer, wrapped in her towel with her flowers. I put her in a makeshift cardboard coffin for her final journey.

On arrival to her pre-booked appointment, they didn't let me in the front door. They sent me to the back door. In the rain. Where there's nowhere to put her down except the ground. So I stood there holding her coffin, my arms getting more and more tired. The whole thing was more than 4kg. I gave up and insisted they let me through, which they did. After that, the experience improved until they wanted to open her coffin and remove her towel. What an idiotic and unfeeling suggestion.

Then I tried to give written feedback via the receipt and the submit button on the online feedback form didn't work.

Sheesh.

Talk about room for improvement.
So sorry MJ.

Thank you RC.

The other weird thing was when they argued with me over her weight. It mattered because the price goes up for a pet over 2kg. Instead of taking me at my word, which was, "she's over 2 kilos" the woman took Mary off to another room to weigh her. What the actual... Uhhh it's not like I was trying to scam for the cheaper price, I was trying to pay the higher of the two prices

Not a word of apology.

Not a sniff of sanctity or empathy, much less sympathy.

Sheesh. Such a discordant experience.

That's just terrible. Why would someone work at a pet crematorium when they are apparently so cold and dismissive?

I'm sorry that you and Mary were treated that way. ☹️

It was so discordant.

The crematorium is part of a larger animal welfare shelter and they just haven't spent enough time building the bereavement aspect of their services.

Tea, surely?
It was indeed tea.

Cup Of Tea GIF

This really doesn’t make any sense to me either. I had expected more sympathy too. 💕
I've had my first outdoor wakeup cuppa of the season. It's a delightful morning.

Peggy is the matriarch now. Wishing her a long life.
Hope the start of Sunday will be promising too and no more disappointing things will happen. 🤞Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
