Molting?

one of my buff orpingtons is about 16 weeks old and has been loosing feathers like crazy! is this normal?

Pictures would help, but it may be a juvenile molt. You should see pin feathers coming in.

Check for lice and mites and if you can see pin feather coming in it's normal if not give the chicken a bath and wait a while for any more signs
