Monster egg!!!

The first really big egg for me was a 2.7 oz. from an EE. That was just before all 6 of my girls stopped laying (for the most part) for the winter. I had several really big ones, biggest of which was 3.4 ozs., that was a double yolk, the others were singles. I was pretty exciting, getting such wombo eggs once every third or fourth day for about 10 days, then they stopped altogether. So, I've been assuming that mine will do this before they quit for the winer.

I am so glad that we are not the only one that has eggs that big.The first egg our Naked Neck or Turken layed it was so big that it had 3 yolks.I almost could not believe it.The Turken chicken is not so pretty but it lays the best eating and largest eggs that we know of and we have lived on the farm all of our lives. We always have more than we can eat So we give them away .I am in the process of trying to incubate some.If I get a chance to send in a picture I will.We live in NC,right close to the coast. Thanks for telling about your eggs.Do u know of a market for eggs or day old chicks? Thanks,,,SHuff chicks

We had the same thing happen to us twice with pullets that were born in April. They laid one egg that size about a month ago and then again about 2 weeks ago. It was soooo big we laughed and laughed as well as took video and pics. Since we are new to raising hens (we have two black sex links and 4 Reds). They are all hens ...no rooster, we were thankful no blood so happy we don't think it hurt. The only thing we could link it to was giving them pumpkins to peck at around the same time and then some butternut squash seeds which they LOVE.
