He's probably trying to breed. My most hostile males are usually between 4-6 months before I get rid of them

Some people say they calm down. I don't have time to waste on them as I already have at least 13 that stay, plus usually at least another half dozen that are around and most of mine are already calm during that time

In my experience, nasty cockerels get worse, not better. Our adult roosters and hens manage the boys pretty well, and any that don't behave well don't stay.
