I’ve only done bumble foot surgery on chickens so I’m not sure if it’s the same but taking the scab off wasn’t ever enough to get the core out. I had to cut some of the skin as well. I tightly swaddled them and rolled them on their back on a table to get them to hold still. Not sure if that would work for a duck either.
