Honestly, I think it depends on how handy you are with a hammer/nails or pvc pipe or whatever. One thing you can do is the kiddy pool idea mentioned above and then wrap rabbit wire around it so they won't fly out at week 2 to 3. One thing I do when I'm cleaning out their cage though is put them in a large box that I got my microwave in. They whine a bit, but they get used to it and its only temporary.
