More Pigeon Loft Questions

With a dovecote, if it is partioned off, will other birds go into it for shelter even if they don’t have a nest? Thanks for all the information!
Other birds?? Not sure what you mean. Wild birds might try to occupy a vacant box but not too likely.

I’m thinking of building one like this.
Take into account ease of cleaning, that is scraping the poop out as well as a way to get access to check on eggs or babies. A hinged back panel might work to give access.

Sorry, I wasn’t very clear. I meant like young birds that aren’t building nests yet, would they still go inside for shelter? I was planning on a hinged top.

Young birds will have to have their own boxes. Dovecotes are divided into individual 'apartments'. If the top opens, will you be able to reach the lower level boxes?
