I always heard that the ax was the quickest and most humane method.

You're right pattycake, I take my dogs to a farm vet so I guess I'll take my chickens to him too. It will be worth whatever I have to pay to not have to do it myself. Hopefully I won't have to do it very often.

I'm with Chickmate -- If I can afford it I will definitely have to find someone else to dispatch my pet. And that will ONLY be after all avenues of recovery have been exhausted.
