Hi there, I am so glad I found you all and your wealth of knowledge! I have taken on many elderly animals so I don't know their ages, happy to be living in the wilds of Suffolk UK surrounded by wildlife and beautiful views.
Recently one of our Indian Runner Ducks started sitting down mid run, I have given them extra supplements and extra soft warm bedding as it's getting colder, but this morning she came out and couldn't stand at all. There is no visible damage but she crawled close to me as though she was looking for warmth. I am very worried about her, this is so out of character, she is one of the feisty ones! Any suggestions very welcome, and thank you in advance.

Please go to the "forums" at top of page and scroll down to "Duck forum." That would be a great place to ask your questions- the folks there have more experience . Is your duck very young? Sometimes young birds have a niacin deficiency that causes leg/movement problems.

Hi Libby and welcome to BYC. I hope the ER folks can help.

More generally, this is a useful link to take a look at - “How to...” guides. You may wish to consider including your location under your avatar (using the guide in the link above). You can use this link to contact members in your area - UK

Best wishes

Hello, Libby, and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
I don't know what might be wing with your duck but someone in the Duck forum might be able to help you. Good luck with your duck.

Thank you for taking the time to reply and point me in the right direction, just trying to find my way around the forum! I think she is quite old. I have a mixture of Brewers Yeast, Kelp and poultry spice in their food. I do this every Autumn when the laying slows down. If there is anything I've missed, I'd love to hear it.

I have a runner that is chonically egg bound for about 2 years and I can never feel an egg.

I wish @MummaLibs would let us know the age, breed and if she's been laying.
Hi there, they have all stopped laying, I can feel an egg there but she feels as though she has lost a lot of weight. She is still eating and drinking though.
