I would highly recommend buff orpingtons, black australorps, barred rocks, wyandottes and brahmas. All are very friendly, great layers and good in neighborhoods.

Those are great breeds! So are Rhode Island Reds (My favorite breed) and Red Sex Links.

Okay, brilliant! :3 I recommend: Mutts, Brahmas, Sex Links, Orpington, Wyandottes, Legbars, Leghorns, Rhodebars, anything and everything. Big, cuddly birds are best, they tame easy and usually aren't as flighty. My brahma is an absolute darling, super easy to handle.
