I don't think I told you guys that Snow White has fly strike. This is definitely the worst chicken disease/illness I've had to deal with. She had three baths yesterday to help dislodge the maggots, then I had to pick more maggots off her rear end with tweezers, then I had to wash her rear end with hydrogen peroxide, and finally I gave her an antibiotic and wormer. Today I gave her another bath with Epsom salts and more antibiotic and wormer. So far she seems to be in stable condition, but only time will tell if she makes it.

Tomorrow we'll probably have to go to the vet again to pick up either Tylan 50 or Baytril for Pebbles since her eye has swelled up terribly again, so I might get some injectable penicillin for Snow White as well.

Fly strike is a huge pain. Fiver had it once and she had to go to an emergency vet. @-@

I will probably be clipping the fur off of my guinea pigs butts tomorrow, because the weather is heating up - which means more flies. ;-;

Yeah, I feel so bad for her. I could barely eat anything yesterday or this morning because I kept thinking about the maggots and getting nauseous. I don't think I ate anything yesterday until about 3:00 PM. My mom and dad's donkey died of the same thing and it's a really nasty death. The maggots literally eat the animals from the inside out.

Thank you Shannon. Jill had a respiratory infection last week to, but she seems to be better, she's done with her round of antibiotics on Thursday.

It sure is. Oh yikes, was she okay? I'd bring Snow White if it wasn't so expensive, luckily one of the vets up here will sell us medicines without seeing the bird.

Good idea, I clipped the feathers around Roxy and Feathers bums yesterday. I was going to do Jackie too, but I couldn't catch her. :/ I'll have to grab her off the roost and trim the feathers then. Jill and Pebbles need it done too, especially Jill because she has a perpetually poopy butt.

I'm usually so good about keeping their bums clean, and I was going to actually wash Snow White's bum and clip the feathers yesterday, because it was getting really poopy. But I had to help my dad pump water out of the boat out at the cabin because we've gotten so much rain, and by the time we got back it was getting dark and I figured I'd do it the next day. But I guess while I was gone the flies had done their dirty work.

Yeah. It's been unusually hot and humid here lately, so there's been lots of flies.
