Well we're right on the coast so it does get very windy; but we're building a walled garden, so they could live there. I heard that guinea pigs shouldn't eat seeds, is that true?
Don't build a wall, that'll make the wind stronger when it hits your garden. You want to look into growning evergreen hedges - because the leaves slow the wind and calm it down.

We built a 6ft fence and that was a terrible idea. The garden gets trashed every Autumn, because of all the wind. )-)
And, they shouldn't eat apple seeds. But I've not really heard much about other seeds.
