Moving issues or picky hens?

As long as your roosts are higher than your nestboxes than your chickens will be happy. They will always want to roost higher, so if nestboxes are higher they will start sleeping on the lip of them, and poop in them.

Ok! Looks like I've got some rearranging to do and waiting out...

Can anyone answer a quick question?? I bought a for sure easter egger who hadn't started laying yet when i bought her. But i also got a lavender Orpington who seems to have colored legs..And one ? Who is an Easter egger chick with white legs.

Anyone who has an Orphington..what colored eggs do they have? Shes a big girl well my biggest and i just got my first blue egg today

Ok Thanks! Guess that means my new girls are adjusting faster lol

Oh and as far as expanding their jail time some one mentioned not exactly possible I mean even if I could block it off on all the sides I have a smart barred rock that can fly higher than any chicken I've seen. She managed to get 12 ft in the air when i first brought her home!

Ok guys! Update I got a girl to lay in the box. I had to move it to the other side of the shed. The demands of a chickens I swear!! Took he a dang hour to get comfortable. She kept trying to cover herself....shes kept everyone waiting for her to move...does that mean I need to make it a little darker?

I have their roost bar on the other side and the windows open and the big double doors stay open with a wire fence

I guess this is the darkest corner..And everyone checked out the nest box when i moved it to that corner but she took an hour and turned and turned and covered and turned lol.

She will get used to it. The first step is to accept it as your new egg laying spot. :thumbsup

Oh good! Must mean a good sign then. Infact today has been the most egg productive day since they moved!

As an added step I got some cheap easter eggs and put them in there last I checked someone else laid but I left the real egg in there hopefully when i get home i have more waiting
