Hahaha! I'm not on my home turf, so it's not my call! So, for the record, I'm actually within killing distance and these creatures will live to eat another day. I'll just be using a different door to get to my car!!!!

HOOOOEEEYYY that was close! hahaha Well, there won't be any rats getting into the office/lunch room stuff... this week. MMMUUUWWAAAHHAAAA :D

I have 2 that occupy my chicken barn. I love the fact that in 2 weeks time not a mouse to be found and the Polish can now have tails. The down side is they seem to get tired of meat & like a little chicken in their diet. The shoulders on a chicken are too large for their mouth so they only get their head in & kill the chickens. This doesn't happen often, but it does happen enough. I then put them in a box & take them far away & let them go. They are part of the circle of nature so I won't kill them.

At least you got into your car, I would be in my office chair crying, get it get it.lol

I just came in from giving my hens and guineas some meal worms. All I could think of is there a snake in here. I must get off this page for fear i will not go into the coop, my favorite place to have a good laugh. My girls are the funny ones.

Mel,
If you have dogs or cats that shed, put some of their hair around the coop.. in or out.. I've heard that their scent will deter, don't know about 100%, snakes as well as rabbits at the garden. I don't know. maybe leash the dog, if you have one and let it 'mark' the outside of the coop. nature dealing with nature?

Don't kill snakes - they are a beautiful creature that is part of a healthy ecosystem.

Just leave them alone if you see them around. They are afraid of people and will just go away if unmolested.

Many people get bitten when they try to attack the snakes, cornering it, etc, and the snake has to defend itself.

Keep you yard clean and tidy and keep grass cut short. If they don't have anywhere to shelter, they won't stick around.

If you get a lot of snakes in your area, get a good snake book or go on the internet to get to know the different kinds, so you know which ones are harmless.

Here we get king cobra, cobra, banded krait, and vipers. All are dangerous, but we never kill them, and no one in our village has had a snake bite. We don't get any mice, or rats around either!

Few months back I has a small snake stuck in the wire of my finch aviary. It did not manage to catch a bird, and the poor thing was getting pecked up by angry birds!!! I had to cut the wire and help it out......at first it was biting at me in fear, but soon calmed down once it realised I was helping it. In the end it was happy to curl around my hand while I cut it free. I put him over the garden wall, and he has not come back.

Here is a photo of my old pet snake.........they are really nice pets too, and its about time we started to treat them and other animals with a bit more respect.

I guess it jumped out at me when I read it the first go round. Just an odd use of the adjective - in my opinion. If someone wants to call a rat snake majestic, more power to ya.

This thread is hilarious. People at are so sensitive...

You realize there are a lot of people who think we're crazy for calling our chickens beautiful. Kind of important to keep everything in perspective.
