i had thought that maybe he just favored that spot, but he was scooting the eggs under him just like a broody hen.....made me think that maybe he had chosen a mate?? I have 4 hens that are laying and then 3 males, 3 hens from latest hatch. they get mealworms 1-2x daily and i haven’t really noticed a male giving them up to a female yetWhich one is crunchy jr? I just looked at the latest pictures and saw three males. I have seen my males randomly sit on eggs, but it was more that was the spot they wanted be and the eggs just happened to be there.
i cant wait to get em rolling again. I only read back a few posts but i see muddy youve had trouble with the differences in husbandry vs the cots. It is a whole nother ball game. Theyre just not domesticated and thats what i was completely accustomed to for so long. That simple fact is a huge difference.
males always have some blue feathering. They usually have red vents, but occasionally you'll get a hen with a few red butt feathers.
