I just got a catalog from McMurray and seen that they can sell 17 week old pullets. The breeds are red star, black star, and white leghorn and there is no set limit on how many you have to buy.
Has anyone here bought any of these from McMurray?

My first 6 were Red Star started pullets from them. Great girls! However, I read somewhere that the pullets McMurray sells are actually from Meyer. Save yourself some money and order direct from them.

edited to add: The shipping is incredibly expensive.

Shipping is a killer and sometimes I do save money by going thru breeders because they dont tack on the extra expenses of shipping and boxes. Sometimes you can save money buying two or more birds and have it shipped in a double or trio box all at once.

I have not ordered their started pullets but I believe they sell them de-beaked which is pretty nasty. I love my red stars from McMurray but always order chicks.

While they have a minimum order of 25 you will be able to sell any extra chicks. Mine always 'fly' out the door for pretty good money.

That's why I didn't want to buy them.I thought the clipped beak would be a problem with the other chickens.

Here's why I won't buy them:

I live in Nebraska. MM is in IOWA, next state over. I imagine they are drop shipped from somewhere far away, but still... NOT worth it for me
