Muscovies in US - REGULATION CHANGES OPEN FOR COMMENTS - 10/1 update

I believe as it currently stands they are going to be killed. I think they ought to have a hunting season for them. It may be changed though.

Is it basically legal to pick up muscovies from public parks at this point? It seems as though there is already a muscovy shortage starting with news of these regulations. I would hope as many people as possible pick them up so they can be distributed to people that want them. The problem seems to be getting them to the people in parts of the country where they are less available, especially before the deadline when communication about transferring these ducks to other people will be risky. It's like we need a nationwide emergency muscovy rescue operation.

Does this mean they will capture already wild Muscovies? Or will they be killed?
Probably "dispatched" - killed, as I read it.

Is it basically legal to pick up muscovies from public parks at this point? Yes, as long as no one owns them.

That is what this legislation is designed to prevent.

It's like we need a nationwide emergency muscovy rescue operation.
Ill agree with that.

Which most savvy citizens are not going to be interested in. Most will not want to bear the cost to invite more government into their lives; they have a bellyful of distrust for it now.

I've been following this thread for a few days now, and guess it's time to add my voice to it. First of all, my Muscovies aren't going anywhere! They can make all the regulations they want, but my Scovies are here for the duration. Personally, I doubt this will ever be enforced, but if so, I doubt anyone will bother coming up on my little hill to see if I'm harboring the dreaded Muscovy Duck. I was at a swap in Farmington, MO yesterday, and brought up the subject with other breeders. They are now up in arms about it. One man stated that this will be all out war if anyone tries to take his ducks away. He sold over 400 ducklings last year, and plans to sell more this year. So, I added a few more to our bandwagon, and hope it helps. You never know who that one person may be who can make the difference, so my plan is to keep spreading the word, and hope that people have the guts to stand up and say NO.

Therein lies the problem - you have them, but I don't. Ive contemplated getting them. However, if the law goes into full effect, I will have to go to the 'under market' to get them. I don't mind that so much - I'm a big believer in such markets. But with hatcheries and good breeders you have a measure of assurance on quality. In the under market you don't know what they are selling.

I tend to agree with this. By the same token, are you willing to allow the government yet another way to control what you do and how you do it? That is how liberty is lost.

Ive already said no and Im glad you feel this way. On this sort of issue the people have a voice, and it could lead to a change in the law in our favor.
It could also mean nothing and it goes into effect, as is. That is the chance we take... and its worth it.
