I'll be doing fermented duckling crumbles for the extra protein (22%) this year, with corn and oats, as well as attempting to grow some fresh veggies if I get my greenhouse up. Even if I don't, I can sprouts oats and barley for that extra kick.How do you feed your ducks in your Canadian winters? I can't imagine there is much to forage.
I like to feed the fermented feed too but my Runners are such slobs alot of it ends up out of the feed bowls so I don't feed it as much as I use to. Yeah, winter is fun. Not.
Last winter, I had to trudge through snow up to my hips and dig out the coop! Keeping my fingers crossed we don't get a crazy storm like that this year.
Earlier this summer, I would mix their feed with water, all in separate containers so everyone would have their share. That didn't last long. They had more food on them than in them!
