Muscovy keepers share your pics!

How do you feed your ducks in your Canadian winters? I can't imagine there is much to forage.
I'll be doing fermented duckling crumbles for the extra protein (22%) this year, with corn and oats, as well as attempting to grow some fresh veggies if I get my greenhouse up. Even if I don't, I can sprouts oats and barley for that extra kick.

Yeah, winter is fun. Not.

Last winter, I had to trudge through snow up to my hips and dig out the coop! Keeping my fingers crossed we don't get a crazy storm like that this year.

I like to feed the fermented feed too but my Runners are such slobs alot of it ends up out of the feed bowls so I don't feed it as much as I use to. They need a class in table manners.

Earlier this summer, I would mix their feed with water, all in separate containers so everyone would have their share. That didn't last long. They had more food on them than in them! Now, I just scatter it dry all over the ground.

It's official, btw. I've gone over the deep end. Current Muscovy count: 28. Not only did I get nine babies, but their foster mom too.

Plus four more juvenile females from somewhere else. I think, from the quick look I had at them, that one has really bad angel wing... I'll see in the morning. They are still in the car, in a large tote, because it was already dark when I got home and that was the safest place for them.

Momma and babies are in my trailer. There's another Barred in there! Hopefully a male! And another gorgeous little chocolate magpie, that was vent-sexed as male. If he is, he's going to be paired with Dulce, my chocolate magpie pattern girl!

I'd be as giddy as a kid in a candy shop, but I'm too exhausted! What a day. Will have pics of the peepers tomorrow!

:pop
some years back a member mentioned one of her Muscovy had angel wing and she waited until molt and wing feathers started growing back to wrap and it worked. So you might try fixing the angel wing if the wing feathers are still growing in or if feathers are all grown in waiting till she molts and try once feathers are growing back in.

Proud foster-mom showing off her kids which probably came from a bunch of different males and females, lol!

I would like to point attention to two in particular: The chocolate front centre, with the Magpie pattern, and just in front of him the yellow with dark bill, who is Barred. :)
