I'm so sorry, even with clipped wings sometimes even if they can't fly very far they can still get over a fence. I know this won't make you feel any better but my dog killed one of my ducklings this past summer, broke my heart. They have a way of getting right up into our hearts thats for sure,.

, and to answer Kuntrygirl i only have one left, poor thing must already be wondering where her best friend is....
eventually i must pull myself together and think how to get her more company.... but today I'm just gonna mourn

I'm so sorry. I hope that you are able to find a friend for your other duck. Take the time you need to cry and cry and then cry some more. It's always hard to lose a pet. Try not to blame yourself. Accidents happen and this was just an accident.

As Miss Lydia said, they can still get out. I have some Scovies that can literally climb the fence. I would have never believed it before but I saw it for myself.

And another sad thing is that dogs think it's a game. They don't do it because they are hungry, it's just to "play". It will be ok. :hugs

I'm sorry how upsetting. 'scovie girls are good flyers. I had a dog kill two of my birds this past summer, not mine a neighbours that came across the river, i was ticked, still am.
