Here's an updated pic of the ducklings.

The mom had been disappearing at night, and found out yesterday what she's been up to...since I was removing eggs daily from the barn she had found another spot on the property to set up her nest of 11 eggs and start incubating. Not sure what I'll do. We don't want want any more Muscovies.

Remove eggs and break up the nest. I just had to do this with one of mine.

Any idea how to keep my muscovies off the deck? I love every aspect of them except this one--they insist on sitting right outside of the door to the deck and poop. They free range when I'm home. I usually chase them off with a light up pool noodle (it's the only thing they seem to be terrified of) but a few hours later they're back again.

I thought it definitely had to do something with their flock instinct. There are 2 stairways to the deck and one is 10 feet long so I'm not sure how I would gate it up. I ended up dragging a hose around the deck and they don't like it, so they stayed outside of the hose perimeter. Don't know how long it'll last but I'll do it until I figure something out.

I'm really surprised with how close they want to be--I got most of them as adults--they even tap on the door, and I don't spend much time with them as far and interacting.

I now have "poop sandals"--they're the only shoes I wear when I step out the porch door.
