Muscovy sitting on eggs

She'll be on the nest for atleast 30 days but will come out for an hour or so a day to eat, drink and clean herself. Also i wouldnt worry about it being to late I live in the great white north and i expect to have ducklings hatch this week.

One of my girls is on a nest right now too. she gets off a couple times a day for food & water but she is still early into incubation, maybe a couple weeks? The last few days, when they start really moving and pipping the mommas(all ine anyway) won't get off the nest at all, until the babies are hatched and ready to come out.

So when you don't see her for a couple days then start checking on the nest or watching for babies...... I always check the nest for left-behind eggs (rotten or slow growers).

Ive decided to make a brooder box to move her to. If I move the babies will she follow and still take care of them?

Thanks! I am unsure if they are all done hatching so I'm gonna wait another day to move them. How will I know they are all done? How big of a brooder box would you suggest?

I've got a Scovy Hen on a nest of eggs too, I believe my Gal still has a couple of weeks to go though. You're going to love the new babies!!

Personally unless you are afraid of predators or something, I would leave them be. I would most defiantly wait until she leaves the nest on her own and would catch the whole family and move them all at once. If you move babies she may not go with. I think Muscovy are the best mothers and honestly unless you have to get involved I would not.

Size of brooders will depend on how many ducklings, you want there to be enough room to put water and feed in there and where they can move around with out having to climb on top of each other. and so they won't have poop piled high the first day. For Muscovies it's goona have to be pretty big.
