I live near a large pond.

Ducks, grebes, and mergansers call it a home in certain seasons.

Mallards are the only duck breed I have seen in the pond.

Occasionally drop-offs :rantshow up but they are obvious white ducks that walk right up to you.

A muscovy showed up. I am guessing female or young male. No pics now.

Is she/he domestic or not? Muscovies can go both ways as I know. Also I never have muscovies at my lake. No established feral flocks or anything. No other muscovies in sight either. Havent tried to approach.

Any helpful hints to know if s/he is a drop-off or feral?

Thanks!

A friend who lives nearby says there is one every year who comes. The friend keeps track of all the bird species at the pond.
I don't know though.

Usually we get white duckling dumps after easter. But this is a random duck and msucovy.
