Took in 2 Muscovy duck rescues last night. Abt 2 1/2 months old. Someone dumped their mom in a park along with all her ducklings

these are two of the ducklings

One is very shy, the one laying down. The other is very bold and protective of her sister. No names yet

They are adorable aren’t they? These are my first muscovies. Introduced them to the flock today and everyone is getting along nicely. My ducks are very welcoming to new members
Absolutely adorable. I would love to get Muscovy someday.
Glad your current ducks are welcoming to them.

was your existing flock all female? I ask as I was not able to introduce easily a rescued muscovy into my son's flock of Pekins that also included a drake. Instead, I started my own flock of rescued ducks. I received my last rescued muscovy 3 weeks ago. She is very small but stopped growing before she came to me. Even now there is marked pecking order behavior from my first three rescued ducks which includes a Pekin drake -- boss duck/alpha male But the pekin isn't the problem: second in the pecking order -- another muscovy -- is the meaniest.

I have a male but he is inside with a lame leg. All the ducks are female that are in the pen
My pekin Peep, is the alpha female in the flock. Everyone looks to her. She checks out any new member and gives what I call her “stamp of indifference”

she walks up to them, gives them the famous duck side eye, then just wanders off to eat some bugs. After that the other ducks mill about and just accept them. So far Peep hasn’t had any issues with anyone.
Peep is a jumbo pekin I think. She is noticeably larger than the other ducks, and one is a pekin, and she watches over everyone and keeps them all in line
