    I just found this . Might be worth trying in a sawdust pile . I should have plenty of sawdust after milling logs . I tried the kits and no luck . I would only use water from soaking for spores .  Too thrifty to use a morel . I have actually had luck pouring the water around dead elm trees .

I will say I've put mushroom water and chanterelle trimmings back in the woods in desirable or known spots that grow mushrooms.

I'm trying the plant the spores from the YouTube video. Put the water in several areas that look good.

Two in compost pile are almost ready to pick.

Ok I did a walk around yesterday. Nada. The ground felt pretty cold yet. Nice days up here but 65 still has enough cold to remind a person it's only April up here.

Same here in N WI. The asparagus, hops and rhubarb are just breaking ground...no mushrooms to be found yet.
Seems to me that I've never found a morel before the grass needs mowing for the first time in spring. Guessing it will be two weeks before it needs mowing so maybe I'm just trying to rush things.
