Mushroom foragers

Oh my word! That's a lot! There's not a lot in iowa! We went looking a few weeks ago for 3 hours and we only found 3! There were not in the normal places like they always are. we went looking somewhere were we never looked before and found the 3! Crazy!:)

Lol! We have some super good soil and woods around us, so we're really lucky. That's great, though! :highfive: I'm sure you'll continue to find more. :) A few days ago, we found some morels in our yard, it was something we never expected, but the morels can surprise you!

Me too! That's true! My sister was mowing her yard and found some too!

I went back yesterday to the same spot I got the 6. After the cold and the warm up I had hoped for more. Nada one!

I spent 20 minutes walking around found nothing, I did see some non-edibles. I am wondering, beings we are at the south tip of the blacks if I am not too late, Hopefully, I will find some yellows soon.

Morels from DH forager friend here in our town. He said the refreeze then this stretch of warm days will make them grow fast this week and then they'll be done. Probably just next week and no need to look any more.

Why doesn't some one give me a big bowl of them??

I was out this morning nothing....nada.. empty handed.

I would be happy to give you a big bag of the Inky Caps. They are coming up so fast that the guineas can't keep up with them. I survived a meal of them with no ill effects but have been too bust to prepare any more of them. It shouldn't be too much longer until the Shaggy Manes start coming up.

I was mowing grass today. These have popped up under my crabapple tree where I have never seen any mushrooms before.

In my opinion, they did have a very strong mushroom smell. I am sure that running over them with the lawnmower did not do them any good.

Since our last post on here I have found a total of 9 morels this year.

I went out this morning but I am done until next year unless I get an invite to BC's, or go north to my cabin.

The leafs on the trees are too large, the vegetation is just to summerish for me to have much hopes of finding any, which is strange because my Lilacs just hit full bloom today.

I guess I either go pick some pheasant back or skip shrooms for 6-8 weeks.

Any one else have any ideas and what to go for next?
