Extremely fresh oysters!!

I had a small bowl for breakfast and am going to dry the rest. This was my first time eating the ones I picked myself with no one with me. They were great!

Time to start stalking up for the winter.

I might go on a little walk today.. Very little I have stuff to do today.

Hi Everyone. I grew up in Idaho hunting morels. That's about the only experience I have with wild mushrooms. I'll be interested to follow along and learn.

This is a great photo and gives a nice visual on ID'ing this. Ralphie are you okay if I pass this on to my DH? Just so he has a beautiful picture of them. He still talks about oysters but he doesnt go into the woods unless its for Venison. I think this might spur him on.

I have found them on all sides this year, except south.

I actually found the bunch in the picture being extremely calorie expenditure thrifty. I saw a dead elm on a friends farm, I drove in his pasture drive to the elm, got out and walked the entire 30 ft to the dead elm, inspected the ground on all three sides and proceeded to his house for coffee and to inform him I was trespassing again.

The road along the pasture has some 20ish year old popples. As I drove by I saw the oysters, stepped out after a 20 foot hike this time, and clipt them off the tree...

I looked at surrounding trees and found the second bunch, clipt them and proceeded to coffee...

Yesterday I went back and got the 2 day growth off the tree. Lots of little tasty button sized mushrooms...
Which we ate today in an omelet....

You should know by now I never try to burn excess calories, it would be harmful to this waistline I spent over 60 years developing..

Well that was exactly the answer I was looking for. Those popples can have such large circumferences, that I'd want to be as thrifty as possible. You know me: money, calories and time.
I'm hoping all that changes when the teenagers leave the house.

I went out this morning, my haul:

I kind of smashed the one Morel walking through the woods...

For every ounce of good oyster I got, I threw away 10 ounces of bug infested.

Lots of oyster out there but it seems to get buggy in a day.

I think the morel are about done. I was happy to get these three.... from an oak tree...DUH!!!
