Nothing sentimental about kids. After I ran them down and caught them, I used to wring their necks for my grandmother. I couldn't/wouldn't do it now unless I were starving.
It is funny that you just posted this. My oldest son and his wife do not want us to talk about hunting, fishing or dead animals. They say it will warp their children. The six year old thought cows laid hamburgers kind of like a chicken lays an egg up until he was 5. This son and his wife will not eat deer and are funny about the chickens we process. I tell them the day they become vegetarians they can comment our lifestyle. His younger brothers will eat deer meat and our chickens all day long. If the meat is free they want it.
On the other hand my nieces children are fascinated to know exactly where their food comes from and understand the source. They think it is wonderful that my husband hunts and brings them jerky.
