Oh yes the old "You didn't really want to eat me anyways... I'm gamey... and look at these scrawny legs... besides everyone knows it's duck season... no wabbit season... "
HAHA! so true!!
she never had to worry about that from me...when we first got her my wife and I had been vegetarian for many years.
but her brother didn't have such luck, the urban farm where my wife worked (when the chickens got 'donated') decided to use him for meat, and my girl got tossed into the coop with 18 other already established birds. They started to beat the feathers off of her, she was so scared my wife found her trying to squeeze through the fence.
Since she grew up with a bunch of little preschoolers who hugged and loved her, she had no idea what these crazy birds were, let alone why they wanted to hurt her.
my wife texted me and asked if i wanted to adopt a chicken, i said sure, and she kept her with her the rest of the day. Eggins spent the rest of that first day with us sleeping in lettuce box (she was exhausted) until i got to the farm and she hopped into my lap and slept. I was hooked!
