Someone laid an egg. I've actually raised chicks into henhood. Unbelievable!
How long did it take? That is a beautiful egg, btw.
They are 18 weeks old - I suspect this came from one of my Buff Orpingtons based on the color. But I'm not sure. Thanks - it's such a sweet little egg, I haven't cooked it yet. It will go to my cat Jack who lost his toe jumping off the brooder the chicks first day - the first egg for his "sacrifice."
How exciting, enjoy
We have a 6 year old siamese house cat named steve who loves to lay on top of the brooder wire and give that "what the h*ll are these things doing in my house" look followed by the "ya ya I'm getting off here don't get your shorts in a knot" look. He wont be getting an egg though.
Makes it all worth it!!
Yay! Exciting Can't wait till my pullets start laying
