He is a Great Dane. A mad Great Dane right now. I gave him a bath and he seems to think that wasn't part of the agreement. LOL

Oh my, I know, Preppy. I worry about the hip thing all the time. I researched food for weeks before we got him. I keep reminding myself I have to keep him thin. *sigh*

AW!!! I'm so glad you got an intact merle. They have such a sad story. A roommate while back had 2 merles. Didn't dock them or anything. They were precious. They were saved from euth because of their colouring

That is so sad!!!! I can't even imagine that line of thinking. I know they aren't a showable color, but my goodness, I don't expect pets to HAVE to be show quality!!! And, it just happens to be my favorite color!!!

Congratulations, he is unbelievably adorable! I remember reading your post a while back about how excited you were to get him, and there is absolutely nothing in the world that compares to bringing home a new puppy that you've been eagerly awaiting.
Now, just be prepared for him to double in size every 24 hours... LOL, not quite, but my Aussie puppy is now 7 months old and it is so ridiculous to look back at her puppy pictures. Course, I get the same feeling every time I get baby chicks -- how do they start out so small?! (Or in your case, how do they start out so medium and then end up so XXL?)

PS -- My pup's a blue merle, and it is such a special coloring... be prepared for everyone to gawk and stare... and maybe wonder if your dog is really a purebred, because they've never seen that color before...

Thanks!!! And yes, I have been reminding the kids not to expect him to stay a baby for very long at all. I almost wish he would.....he is so precious!!!

You know, a lot of people I told I was getting a Great Dane, when they asked what color and I said blue merle would say "WHAT color??????" so yeah, I can imagine people having no clue!!! The kids and I have been marveling over his spots and how absolutely random they are. Big ones and little ones and one on his face that looks like he was attacked by a sharpie. It is just such a fun pattern (or lack thereof).

I have a Merle......her name is Tinkerbell. and you're right, people will stop you to ask "what kind of dog is that?" Usually followed by "is that a horse?" Enjoy your "little baby" he's beautiful.
