Has he seen that face! It's so cute! I personally couldn't resist that. ;)

Ditto! Are you in a position to get a summer job to help pay for feed and housing? Or could you negotiate doing work around the house/yard in exchange for keeping them? Once they start laying he'll have a hard time resisting fresh eggs daily! Maybe convince him to build a simple run and offer to set up egg sales to help reimburse cost?

Oh honey, I hate to see you get rid of your flock! I wish I could take them for you but pretty sure my husband would divorce me :gig

I'd take them in a heartbeat, but I'm in Washington. Do a quick search on this site for BYCers in your area, if you must give them away. Henriettamom gave you some great ideas on how to win your step father over. :hugs

My wife too! I've already snuck a few by her in the last xxx past weeks. When I bought the Seramas, I didn't have time to take them home before picking her up. I was playing bird chirping sounds on youtube when she got in the car, and by the time she realized there where live birds in the car, we where at the gas station and I jumped out REALLY quick. "Did you get more birds?!" "Love you hun!" **door thuds closed**

When I got back in this is what I saw.

After asking what she thought...

which I'm going to try and help you scheme against

Maybe your step dad should sign up here and see why exactly we love our birds so much. Does he have any previous experience with chickens, something to sour his taste? Maybe he just needs to see some fluffy butts! That's Flip & Flop!

None of my ducks or chickens are laying eggs yet, but I am looking forward to it.Still though, I get a tremendous amount of stress relief from my flock. I got in to birds to supplement my food via eggs and hopefully some income later on. I never thought I'd actually get attached to a chicken though. That's surely not true anymore. Maybe he just need a chicken to fall in love with him?

My step-dad is the one that has to pick up their supplies(shavings, food) and build things(and re-fix things because he's sloppy at making stuff) He's terrible at leaving little junk in the yard my babies could eat or step on which is another reason I should part with them. I have found pieces of plastic, wires, nails, screws and a nut before. He is a complete litter-bug. And a slob. And a pig and...well, I better not go into that. This is a chicken forum not a complaints about men forum. :gigI do have a little job. On Fridays, I'm not so worried about money. Even though these girls have cost a lot so far.

My step-dad is a city guy. Likes electronics, computers and stuff like that. My mom and I were raised out here in the woods. We know the pest population. I'm a plant freak; gardener. I raise tomatoes and have a small greenhouse. My backyard is fenced in with a poor excuse of a fence. Stuff can still dig under it if it's desperate. I'd have to have a dog, which is an extra expense and I don't do slobber, holes, fleas and barking.
