my barred rock layed a blue egg!!!!

They, and the hatchery, can get breeds mixed up so they are not labeled correctly by the time the buyer chooses.

The bird in post 19 looks kinda like a CLB, not not quite right.
Either an odd olive egger mix, or just a very poor CLB.
There are a bunch of OE blends in the hatcheries these days,
and even EE's are not always bred from the fluffy cheeked ameraucanas any more.

Are you sure a chicken didn’t lay an egg that was already in the nesting box and she sat on it and set off a call
and I was free ranging them they were all on the other side of the garden and she was in the nest box. I kept checking on her no egg and then I went to check on her again blue egg while all the other chickens were on other side of garden.

My barred rock refuses to lay an egg in the nest boxes the other hens use but she will sit in the nest with them and give them her full support. She has her own nest box in a completely different area and until I gave her her own nest box she laid on the ground:lau.
Mine lays in her own box too! The rest use the same one and take turns nicely, she does her own thing. She will also support the others, weird.
