My BO comb

I have a 24 week old BO and her comb hasn't grown a bit. I understand it must get much larger and turn red before she starts laying. Is it unusual for a 24 wk old BO to have such a small comb? Sorry, I don't have pics, but it is about a 1/4 inch high.

Yes, it's possible. They mature differently. My RIR was a late bloomer, but she got there and yours will too.

I'm guessing this pic was at about 22-23 weeks.

I did notice alot a variation between all 9 of my BO. I think it is normal for some of them to be later than others.

Yeah, I saw that picture and couldn't believe it. I mean, my hen has this really small light pink line of a comb and that's it. My EE's comb kind of shot up recently and she started laying yesterday. My BO is recovering from dog attack injuries, so maybe that is slowing the maturation process down some.

If she's injured, she needs that energy to heal. I wouldn't expect eggs until after she's better.

Well, that's a long story. This has been going on for weeks with me trying to get her wounds healed. Hopefully, we'll get to the end of that saga soon.
