My brooder, in progress

I have been itching to build something, and since my bf won't be bringing his saw for a week or so, I built this! Now, if only my chicks would hurry up!
It's not done, I still need more screws/washers, trim the vinyl, attach the top, and I might add another piece in the middle of the top, to have more support. But, this is it as of now... and it cost me about $25

BTW, this is the first thing I have built on my own

I'll be building a brooder of my own in the next few days, too. Using scraps like you did. I'm a fan of the vinyl flooring, too...used it in my coop. What are the dimensions of yours? Thanks

Thanks! I thought about painting the wood, but didn't want to spend the time doing it

and I like how natural wood looks. I am hoping the vinyl will make it super easy to clean, although I'm sure the wood will get dirty. I might spray it with some clear protectant of some sort, though.
It's 2'x4' and 2' tall.

i wanna make one, but i wanna make one with a dimmer switch, i asked my local "ace" store how to do it, turns out they are not really the "helpful place", or maybe they cant help me because i am chicken guy

Great job! I'm getting ready to build a brooder also. We plan on adding 8 to 10 more chicks to our flock of 8 2 year old hens. I got all my wood two years ago from the dump, someone had carefully disassembled a redwood deck. Wife and I took it all. Our coop is 90% redwood, and I plan to use the left over lumber I have to build a brooder for our newbies. Again, Great job!

Wow, thats a really nice Brooder. And its your first? Wow. Thats amazing!

I plan on building something my self out of the scrap wood and chicken wire in the basement...Not sure what the design will look like tho!

I just may go off of yours!
