My chick has a weird thing on its leg.

My 1.5 week old White Wyandotte chick has a weird thing on the side of its knee joint and I am not sure if it is just stuck on poop or what? The stuff that is stuck on has a separation in the middle and outmost feels like a bone? And also has fuzz growing on it it looks like? I am worried because it can’t walk very well and I am afraid it is a disease or tumor or something. It is also swollen.

It looks like it could be a scabbed over wound. I would at least put some antibiotic ointment on it.

Ok is it worth trying to keep it alive or should we put it out of its misery, it can hardly walk and I am afraid that it’s not going to eat or drink

It looks like an infection. There are others on this site much better at diagnosing, but its hurt leg looks swollen and reddish. Start with plain neosporin. Do you have any broad spectrum antibiotocs on hand like fish mox Or Baytril?

I would give it a chance - my chickens have come back from some gnarly wounds - they’re great at healing.

If the chick just got injured, the injury is going to hurt a lot before it gets better. I wouldn’t expect it to walk if its leg was broken (an example, not saying that’s what happened) but that wouldn’t necessarily mean it would never walk again.
