Im worried about my little silky bantam that was born today. It is staggering and falling backwards. What's wrong?

Do you have something in the bottom of the hatcher/brooder that the chick can get some traction on. A lot of chicks are unstable in the beginning but its worth checking out the feet to make sure that the toes are in the right position and the chick is walking with the toe pointing out. If its still unstable after a few more hours post back with more details of how the legs and feet look.

They can take a day or so to get strength in their legs, they usually spend the first day or so sitting under their momma, then they start to go out a little further, so give it some time, it also won't eat or drink for a day or so.

I had a chick once that was like that. About two days after it hatched it was just fine!
