My Chicken Sounds Like a Goose

Our dom has been honking since she was about 3 weeks. It's a bit more pronounced now, and rather....err....endearing, I guess? XD Several of our other chooks are starting to mix in some more chickeny-sounds, but they don't honk like the one.

Most of mine honked while their voices were changing from chick sounds to hen sounds (around 12 weeks) and some have carried on with it longer than others. The EE girls are showing them all up -- they're making the strangest sounds by far! Honks, yes, but also growls, squeaks, and shrieks -- I swear, I thought we had stray cats mating behind the garage only to peek around the corner and hear Pearl repeat her odd little repertoire so I'd know it was only her. How such a petite, pretty little girl bird can produce such a racket is beyond my comprehension.

Oh thank you, for saying it sounds like a honking goose. I've been trying to figure out what to call it. Screaming, or barking, or scream-wailing, or honking? Very loud, early a.m. One bird in particular has gone and taught the others her horrible honking. Now most of them do it.

Any way to stop it??

Yep. The faux honk I've heard a few times. Also, on a side note...my Easter Egger/Leghorn mix literally sounds like a little girl screamin' when she gets picked on by the older hens. The first time my GF and I heard it we thought the the neighbors behind us were beating their kids!

Then we saw her make that noise with our own eyes and laughed... she is sweet but kinda' dim witted....

Both my EE's Thelma and Louise are honkers. I am not sure it is a voice change thing since they are 23 weeks old as of yesterday and still honking. But, since they are not laying yet I guess it could be they have not made it through the "change" just yet.
