My chickens are Mice assasins! Graphic warning

yeah - I never knew chickens were such good killers either!! My chicken is an expert gecko hunter! She can eat more than a dozen in one sitting. And when she gets it - she is quite the killer- thrashing it around till it stops moving and then eating it - and then going back for the tail it dropped to try and trick her. It's amazing yet sometimes disturbing to watch.

Chickens can be vicious-remember who their ancestors were. My three week old chicks went after a spider with the voracity of a T-Rex. The successful chick had to run with the spider in her beak with all her sisters in hot pursuit. Not sure who actually ate the spider but it did not survive. I have a co-worker who will shriek and jump on a counter at the sight of a spider. Really now, which species do you think will survive in a million years from now?

Chickens are DEFINITELY omnivores....they will eat just about ANYTHING! My best friend who is a vetran chicken owner calls hers "feathered pigs" LOL

One of our EE hens used to be pretty good at catching mice.

Guess this is a good time to mention, this is why we don't use mouse poison in the coop. If a mouse eats the poison and then the chickens eat the mouse.... I know a lot of us know this, but since some people didn't realize that chickens even eat mice, I thought I might mention it. When we saw the first mouse in the coop hubby said I'll get some Decon tomorrow........luckily somebody had mentioned it here earlier.

HAHA Maybe I should put my cats in the coop and bring the chickens inside to deal with the field mice that love the fruit loops so much
